General Summary of Duties
Inspects, tests, repairs, and maintains electrical and electronic equipment within the system, such as circuit breakers, transformers, and in-service relays, to prevent and remedy abnormal behavior of transmission and distribution lines and equipment. Maintains the power system to assure the maximum continuity of electrical service. Supports all Production and Generation Facilities.
Essential Functions Summary
Maintains, repairs, tests, troubleshoots and calibrates equipment. Locates primary and secondary underground URD faults. Utilizes mainframe databases, standard software programs, and numerous vendor software programs to complete work assignments. Creates, reviews, updates and interprets drawings, sketches and other applicable documentation. Prepares and maintains applicable reports and records (e.g. equipment, tests, specifications). Reads and troubleshoots circuit drawings with complete understanding of theory of transmission, distribution, generation and excitation control and protection. Installs new equipment such as relays, timers, switches and indicators.
Job Specifications: Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Must be Journey System Protection Technician as indicated by the completion of a 5-year apprenticeship program or have an associate degree in Electric Theory or a related field and 5 years of experience as an Electrical Technician, Relay Technician, Generation Line Technician. Candidates must possess broad knowledge of instrumentation equipment, supplies and techniques. Must be able to be on standby and work scheduled and unscheduled overtime to support a 24/7 operation. Must have valid driver’s license.

Position Overview
Under the general supervision of the Manager of Operational Support, this position is responsible for the day-to-day management and control of inventory, materials, tools, equipment, and supplies for Traverse City Light & Power, including TCLPfiber (the “Utility”). The Head Storekeeper exercises independent judgment in organizing inventory, prioritizing material requirements, identifying discrepancies, coordinating deliveries and returns, and maintaining an efficient, safe, and orderly warehouse and storage environment. The position coordinates and participates in the full inventory cycle, including receiving, inspecting, recording, storing, organizing, issuing, staging, shipping, returning, and disposing of materials and supplies. The Head Storekeeper works closely with the Electric Operations, Engineering, Fiber, Procurement, and other Utility departments to anticipate material requirements and ensure materials are available to support scheduled and emergency work.

- Coordinate and participate in the complete inventory cycle including receiving, inspecting, recording, stocking, staging, issuing, returning, transferring, and shipping materials, supplies, tools, and equipment.
- Monitor daily inventory and non-stock levels. Anticipate future material requirements by participating in weekly workflow meetings with Electrical Engineering, Electric Operations, and Fiber personnel and reviewing work forecasts, reports, and scheduled projects.
- Maintain accurate inventory records using the Utility’s inventory management and work order systems, established inventory procedures, physical verification, manual tracking, and reconciliation processes.
- Receive and inspect materials, supplies, equipment, and other goods delivered to the Utility. Verify quantities and specifications against purchase orders, invoices, packing slips, bills of lading, or other applicable documentation.
- Identify damaged, defective, incorrect, or non-conforming materials and coordinate returns, replacements, credits, or other appropriate resolutions with Procurement and vendors..
- Maintain the warehouse, yard, and other inventory storage areas in a clean, safe, organized, and efficient manner consistent with established principles and Utility safety standards.
- Operate material-handling and Utility equipment, including forklifts, backhoes, and other equipment for which the employee is trained and authorized.

Qualifications

- Educational requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent. Certification, training, or degree in accounting, inventory management, procurement or related field preferred.
- Minimum of three years’ progressively responsible experience in inventory management, warehouse operations, materials management, logistics, or related field.
- Demonstrated ability to load and unload material from freight trucks using a forklift or other appropriate material-handling equipment.
- Demonstrated experience receiving, inspecting, storing, issuing, and maintaining inventory records for materials, equipment, tools, or supplies.
- Maintain a State of Michigan Vehicle Operator’s License.
- Knowledge of inventory control principles, warehouse practices, material handling, receiving, shipping, and storage procedures.

Position Overview
Under the general direction of the Director of Engineering and Operations, the Line Superintendent leads all field operations associated with the construction, operation, maintenance, and restoration of TCLP’s electric transmission and distribution system, service lines, and substation assets. The position provides direct leadership and accountability for workforce performance, safety, resource allocation, project execution, emergency response, and system reliability. The Line Superintendent establishes priorities, coordinates personnel and equipment, manages daily and long-range work plans, and works collaboratively with other departments and contractors.
Key Responsibilities

- Execute planned work as required to efficiently repair and maintain electric transmission and distribution systems. Receive work orders, review job sites for readiness and resource requirements.
- Provide direct supervision to Line Department employees and others as assigned, including assigning and directing work, managing performance, coaching and training employees, ensuring safety and regulatory compliance, and addressing employee relations and disciplinary matters as needed.
- Perform scheduling activities in the absence of the Scheduling & Operations Coordinator.
- Assist with necessary permits for construction.
- Implement maintenance systems for electric facilities.
- Assist with identification and prioritization of system reliability projects to reduce customer outages, outage durations, and damage to Company equipment.
- Direct all line crews during storm restoration activities; identify and request storm-related resources.
- Recommend and specify tools and major equipment needed and work with the Director of Engineering & Operations on associated budgeting. Approve purchases of equipment and materials following prescribed guidelines. Coordinate tool calibration, testing and repair.
- Coordinate fleet of vehicles and equipment, including procurement, preventative maintenance, inspections, repairs, and recordkeeping. Work with vendors to ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in electrical technology, Utility Operations, Electrical Engineering Technology, Business Management, Construction Management, or a related field preferred. A combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- At least ten years’ experience in electrical distribution system construction, operations, repair, and maintenance, or related field.
- Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory or leadership experience.
- State of Michigan Vehicle Operator’s License
- Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of electric distribution and transmission.
- Thorough knowledge of electric system design, repair, and maintenance.
- Considerable knowledge of National Electric Safety Codes, OSHA regulations, and other codes and regulations governing power transmission and distribution.
- Ability to prioritize and work effectively in emergencies, and during non-standard business hours.
Additional Qualifications
- Qualifications of a Journeyman Line Worker including a Journeyman Line Worker card, or equivalent.
- Commercial driver’s license (CDL) with Class A endorsement.
